19 Injured in School Bus Crash

A bus transporting a high school basketball team crashed in Maryland on Tuesday night, injuring 19 people, including 15 members of the girls’ basketball team, authorities said.

The accident occurred when the Great Mills High School bus ran off the road after hitting a Ford Fusion that had just been involved in a crash with a Dodge truck at an intersection in Mechanicsville.

The bus driver, another adult on the bus, and fifteen students were taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The driver of the Ford and a 13-year-old passenger in the vehicle were also treated for minor injuries.

John Patrick Kravats, 45, the driver of the Dodge truck, was charged with driving under the influence in connection with the crash.
