Nextdoor CEO Sued Over Hit-and-Run Accident
Nirav Tolia, the CEO of the social networking site Nextdoor, was named as the defendant in a civil lawsuit this week after allegedly leaving the scene of a hit-and-run accident last summer, according to court documents.
Tolia, whose social networking website provides an online forum for promoting neighborhood safety, is currently facing civil and criminal charges for leaving the scene of a highway accident in San Mateo County in August.
The civil suit was filed in San Francisco Superior Court on Tuesday by Patrice Motley, who claims that she lost control of her vehicle and crashed into the median after Tolia swerved into her lane on Highway 101, just south of San Francisco.
Tolia, who claims his BMW X5 SUV never came into contact with Motley’s car, did not stop to offer assistance or call 911, instead driving his wife and child home.
Witnesses to the accident wrote down Tolia’s license plate number and passed it along to police when they arrived at the scene.
The lawsuit is seeking an unspecified amount in damages.
