Family Files Wrongful Death Lawsuit for Fatal Fire
The family of a man who died in a fire filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Dane County in Wisconsin.
The lawsuit, filed by the family of Chris Williams, alleges that the firefighters were delayed in responding to the fire that killed Williams in his Madison apartment.
The dispatcher had to manually override the computer system twice because it assigned firefighters to the wrong place initially, and it took another ten minutes for the first Madison fire crew to arrive, as the closest Madison fire units were dispatched elsewhere at the time of the call.
Williams had died by smoke inhalation by the time firefighters found him.
The Williams family names 911 Center Director John DeJung as the defendant in the lawsuit.
