Family Sues Albuquerque for Wrongful Death
The family of a man who was shot and killed by an Albuquerque SWAT officer filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the city.
Parrish Dennison was fatally shot by SWAT officer Anthony Sedler after being suspected of stealing equipment from a music store.
Sedler said he shot Dennison after he saw him pull a revolver, but Charlotte Ingraham, Dennison’s mother, said footage from a helicopter does not show this happening.
“He never threatened the police. He never pointed. He was running the whole time,” said Ingraham.
The suit alleges that Sedler and two other officers violated Dennison’s rights by using excessive and unnecessary force, among other ways.
The suit asks for an unspecified amount of monetary damages.
