Residents Claim Exposure to Toxic Chemicals at L.A. Housing Development

Residents of a housing development in Wildomar, California, claim that their homes are causing them to become ill.

More than 45 owners of homes in the Autumnwood development, which consists of 61 homes that were built in 2006, allege that they have suffered various illnesses caused by exposure to toxic chemicals in their homes.

The homeowners’ attorneys claim that the soil beneath the homes is contaminated with toxic levels of Formaldehyde, Chloroform and Benzene, among other substances.

The residents met with the Department of Toxic Substances control officials on Wednesday to assess the toxic chemical levels in the soil.

The developer, Inland Pacific Builder of Santa Maria, has not yet commented on the residents’ allegations.
