School Bus Fire Results in Hospitalization of 18 Children

A bus engine fire sent 18 elementary school students to the hospital on Thursday morning, according to fire officials in Texas.

The incident occurred in Humble, Texas, when the engine of a school bus carrying children to Northwest Preparatory Academy caught fire at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday morning.

A spokesperson for the Humble Fire Department said the fire was extinguished relatively quickly and that none of the 18 elementary students aboard the bus at the time of the fire was injured.

All 18 students were transported to a local hospital for evaluation as a precautionary measure.
