Wrongful Death Lawsuit in Jacksonville, Florida, against Liquor Store Proceeds

A state appeals court has given the greenlight to a lawsuit against a liquor store involved in the fartal car accident of a woman in Jacksonville, Florida.

The lawsuit was approved by the 1st District Court of Appeal, permitting the estate of Catherine Case to sue Bombay Luqors and co-owner Ravindu Patel, who allegedly sold alcohol to a minor, Andrews Newman.

Newman, 17, collided with Case, 22, in a car accident on March 2011, killing her.

According to the appeals-court opinion, Patel “sold alcohol to Andrews on several occasions without requiring proof of age, Andrews’ youthful appearance notwithstanding, including on the night of the fatal accident.

Newman is serving an 11-year sentence for DUI manslaughter.
